Job Summary

Implement and continuously improve construction health & safety programs for a major, long-term utility project across the greater New York City area. Serve as a key resource for interpreting safety and regulatory requirements, supporting Program Management with subcontractor reviews, inspection schedules, field safety inspections, safety reporting, and incident investigations. Travel daily across project sites (Queens, Bronx, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester) and conduct safety training and hazard assessment follow-ups to ensure compliance and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide HSE guidance to Program Management and support interpretation of health, safety, and construction regulatory requirements.
•Review subcontractors’ Hazard Analyses and Project-Specific Safety Plans to ensure methods address hazards and comply with WSP and client safety SOPs.
•Develop and support an HSE site inspection schedule, and conduct field safety inspections to ensure compliance.
•Review and track contractor compliance with OSHA, contractual safety requirements, and local regulations; verify subcontractors’ daily hazard assessments and controls.
•Conduct, document, and timely submit safety reports and deliverables, and participate in or lead incident investigations and root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.

Key Requirements

•5-7 years of construction HSE experience.
•5+ years’ HSE experience on large construction projects, preferably high voltage utility and heavy civil roadway.
•Knowledge of New York State and New York City construction regulations and standards.
•Ability and willingness to travel daily throughout the greater NYC area and Long Island regions.
•Ability and willingness to work day or night shifts; must pass background check, NDA, and client drug tests as applicable.
