Job Summary

Own end-to-end projects for Pyroscope, the open-source continuous profiling database behind Grafana Cloud Profiles. Lead development of distributed database components (ingestion, storage, query) and ship improvements like adaptive profiles, trace-to-profile correlation, and agent-ready APIs/CLI. Partner with other Grafana squads, drive reliability against SLOs and unit-cost targets, participate in EMEA on-call, and contribute to the open-source community.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead projects from concept to rollout, including design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
•Design, build, and operate core distributed database components (ingestion, storage, query) with trade-offs across performance, cost, and complexity.
•Drive operational excellence by owning outcomes against SLOs and unit cost targets, reducing toil through automation, and improving incident response.
•Partner across Grafana squads (e.g., App Observability, Alloy, Tempo, and other Databases squads) to make profiles useful wherever engineers work.
•Participate in EMEA on-call for the services you build and contribute to Pyroscope as open source.

Key Requirements

•Solid experience with a systems language; Pyroscope is written in Go, with experience in one or more languages such as Rust, C, C++, Python, or Java.
•Experience building and operating cloud services and distributed, multi-tenant systems that are fast, reliable, and affordable.
•Product sense: comfort talking to customers, handling ambiguity, and turning unclear problems into deliverables without a dedicated PM.
•Strong software craftsmanship: write clean, robust, performant software and know when to optimize versus ship.
•Operational mindset with experience carrying a pager, doing SRE-style work, or using infrastructure as code, treating reliability as a feature.
