Job Summary

Build and lead Cohere’s Global External Affairs function within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team. Own a comprehensive external affairs strategy, cultivate partnerships with think tanks and civil society groups, and drive third-party validation of Cohere’s approach to enterprise AI, data privacy, and model safety. Represent Cohere across industry coalitions, align with internal stakeholders across GAPP and beyond, and convene high-level roundtables and briefings.

•Define and execute a comprehensive global External Affairs strategy aligned with public policy and commercial objectives.
•Identify, build, and manage strategic partnerships with technology policy think tanks, academics, civil society organizations, and NGOs.
•Partner with external experts to generate thought leadership, research, and independent validation for enterprise AI, data privacy, and model safety.
•Represent Cohere across industry coalitions, trade associations, and multi-stakeholder forums to shape industry consensus.
•Collaborate across GAPP, Corporate Communications, Legal, and Go-To-Market to drive measurable impact, and convene roundtables, briefings, and summits.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience in external affairs, public policy, or strategic partnerships, ideally within major technology, a trade association, or a policy institution.

•Strong understanding of current AI policy debates, including data governance, safety, open-source models, and enterprise adoption.
•Proven experience managing budgets for sponsorships, memberships, and grants with ROI and alignment to corporate policy goals.
•Ability to persuasively communicate complex technical and policy narratives to influential external audiences.
