Job Summary

We are hiring an ML Engineer, Assessments to build end-to-end assessment ML systems for Speak across multiple products, partnering with the Assessment Design Lead, ML, Product, and Engineering to ship reliable scoring, feedback, and evaluation platforms. The role owns implementation, deployment, monitoring, and platform-scale capabilities for assessment algorithms and pipelines, with close collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Ship and own assessment ML systems end-to-end, including building, deploying, and maintaining scoring models/pipelines and monitoring for accuracy targets
•Define and operationalize evaluation by implementing validation frameworks, metrics, test sets, and online/offline analysis
•Partner with the Assessment Design Lead to grow assessments into a core platform and deliver incremental improvements in weekly cycles
•Drive near-term delivery across products by standing up or improving summative assessments and validating formative approaches
•Support data and labeling strategy by defining data needs for training/evaluation and building pipelines for label collection and analysis

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 220,000 - 300,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Domain expertise in spoken language proficiency assessment or equivalent experience
•Strong experience designing and running evaluation and validation for assessment/scoring systems and tailoring approaches to a product use case
•4+ years building automatic proficiency assessment systems (or equivalent depth in related scoring/evaluation domains)
•Proven ability to ship ML models to production with reliability, monitoring, and iteration
•Strong generalist ML/analysis skills (statistics, Python, PyTorch/model training)
