Job Summary

Build and lead a Shanghai-based Future Computing Prototyping Studio that turns next-gen personal computing concepts into executive-ready hardware demonstrations within four to twelve weeks. Lead a multidisciplinary team across Linux, Android, virtualization, containers, hardware integration, AI developer tooling, cloud services, and UX. Define technical architecture and prototype roadmaps, validate hypotheses with real hardware, coordinate ODM/silicon execution, and transition winning work into durable product/engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Establish the Shanghai Future Computing Prototyping Studio, including operating model, engineering culture, technical standards, lab environment, partner cadence, and portfolio-management process.
•Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop the initial team; personally lead anchor hires across Linux, Android, virtualization, hardware integration, AI, cloud, developer-experience, UX, and technical-program leaders.
•Define technical architecture and a prototype roadmap with HP product, engineering, design, strategy, and business leaders; translate future-computing concepts into four-to-twelve-week programs with measurable acceptance criteria.
•Design and validate prototypes around customer, product, and business hypotheses using benchmarks, executive reviews, partner input, and limited pilots; build investment cases and productization plans.
•Deliver executive-quality hardware prototypes on near-target devices, lead ODM and ecosystem execution, and manage portfolio, budget, and executive communication; escalate issues with concrete recommendations.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or related, or equivalent practical experience.
•Typically 15 or more years of relevant engineering, product-development, or advanced-technology experience.
•Significant experience leading multidisciplinary software or systems-engineering organizations.
•Demonstrated success recruiting, hiring, and developing senior engineers, technical leads, designers, and early-career talent.
•Experience taking new concepts from prototype/incubation through validation and into product development or commercial delivery.
