Key Responsibilities

  • •Monitor personnel, work areas, and items leaving radiological areas to control internal/external exposure.
  • •Recommend appropriate personnel monitoring devices, protective equipment, and working time for radiation operations and maintenance.
  • •Collect, evaluate, and report data from radiation detection devices and air/bioassay sampling.
  • •Investigate causes and effects when results exceed guides, standards, and limits; define corrective measures.
  • •Calibrate instruments and operate automated low-background counting equipment, process TLDs, perform lung counts, and support emergency response organization activities.

Key Requirements

  • •Associates or higher degree in a technical field with 2–5 years of related experience, or high school diploma with 5–12 years of relevant experience.
  • •Requires DOE RCT standardized CORE training certification.
  • •Must have current HAZWOPER 40-hour qualification and be able to provide certification.
  • •Must be able to perform mathematical computations and unit conversions for sampling/monitoring results.
  • •Must be knowledgeable/trained in monitoring and sampling of radiological hazards and understand types of radiation.
