Job Summary

Own reliability for Akamai’s Compute, CDN, and security platforms by troubleshooting issues, analyzing performance and capacity, and recommending improvements. Partner with engineering and SRE teams to implement new features, write software and infrastructure fixes, and build automation/self-service tools. Use data analysis, network diagnostics, and debugging to understand large-scale distributed systems, track KPIs, and support escalations, incidents, and customer-driven capacity decisions.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform system analysis and troubleshooting, assessing performance and capacity and recommending improvements.
•Testing inefficiencies and fragilities and writing software or infrastructure fixes with both code and IaC.
•Design and work with engineering/SRE teams to build automation and self-service tools.
•Leverage data analysis, network diagnostics, and debugging tools to characterize performance and capacity of distributed systems.
•Investigate platform performance proactively, track platform KPIs, and collaborate on escalations and incident resolution for customers.

Key Requirements

•Relevant experience and knowledge in Computer Science or another quantitative discipline.
•Experience developing solutions in Python, Bash, or other languages.
•Experience with internet protocols such as DNS, HTTP, and TCP.
•Experience working with and analyzing complex systems in Linux, VM, and Kubernetes production environments.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical information clearly.
