Job Summary

Lead safety engineering activities for complex defense and aerospace programs, working as part of the UK Safety Team. Maintain safety requirements and hazard logs, identify and analyze hazards, and compile evidence to support safety assessments and safety cases. Create safety reports and artifacts, applying safety management processes and formal analysis techniques such as FTA, event trees, FMECA, LOPA, and QRA. Hybrid role based in Crawley or Bristol.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform activities identified in Safety Management Plans as directed by the Project Safety Manager.
•Record and archive project safety requirements and ensure they are included in the project design baseline.
•Identify and analyze accidents, hazards, and risks; create and maintain Hazard Logs with traceability to causes, consequences, risk controls, and assumptions.
•Collate and configure evidence required to complete Safety Assessments/Safety Cases.
•Capture, report, and resolve safety issues, and create safety reports and deliverable artifacts to support assessments/cases.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree (BEng, BSc) or equivalent in a numerate, scientific, or engineering subject, or higher education/training and experience.
•Experience with Naval Combat Systems or highly integrated systems.
•Working knowledge of Safety Management System processes and regular implementation to meet project requirements.
•Familiarity with safety analysis techniques such as FTA, Event Tree, FMECA, RBD, LOPA, and QRA, including appropriate application.
•Knowledge of safety assessment processes and Hazard ID/risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, FHA, BowTies), implemented on projects.
