Job Summary

Carry out safe lifting, transporting, and rigging tasks at the Smelter Plant, ensuring compliance with mine safety protocols, health, safety, environment, and quality requirements. Plan and execute rigging activities to support maintenance and production targets, inspect lifting equipment, interpret crane load charts, and develop lift plans for critical lifts. Maintain safe work procedures, housekeeping, and risk management, including overhead and confined-space work.

Key Responsibilities

•Plan and perform rigging activities to safe standards to support maintenance personnel and operational integrity.
•Execute assigned rigging tasks around the Smelter Plant and provide safe, timely, high-quality service to the Rigging Supervisor.
•Inspect lifting and rigging equipment and perform statutory inspections on relevant cranes, hoists, lifting gear, and winches.
•Interpret mobile crane load charts, estimate lifts, and select properly rated cranes/equipment before lifting.
•Create lift plans for critical lifts, coordinate tandem lifts using two cranes, and ensure safe loading and securing of loads.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as an Artisan Rigger in a mining/plant environment.
•Minimum qualification: Craft Certificate in Rigging and Load Shifting.
•Grade 12 School Certificate.
•Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
•Qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
