Job Summary

Perform safe field sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, and asphalt materials across job sites along the South Wasatch Front. Operate and maintain nuclear density gauges, conduct asphalt coring, and follow state DOT and agency specifications. Accurately analyze materials, record daily test results, prepare reports, and promptly communicate non-compliant findings to project leadership while adhering to MSHA/OSHA safety and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Safely collect samples for testing asphalt materials.
•Set up, operate, and maintain nuclear density gauges for asphalt and soils compaction.
•Perform sampling, testing, analysis, and reporting/documentation of results according to established protocols.
•Maintain daily records of test results, prepare daily reports, and submit results to project lead technician or main lab supervisor.
•Follow MSHA/OSHA safety procedures and perform asphalt coring and housekeeping to maintain a clean lab environment.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED preferred.
•1–2 years of prior QC experience preferred.
•WAQTC certification preferred.
•Must have a current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
•Ability to read instructions and memos, perform basic math, and accurately type/use keyboards; knowledge of database software.
