Key Responsibilities

  • •Track upstream Linux kernel developments and identify features of interest for Arista products and internal needs.
  • •Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests, including automated test and test infrastructure validation.
  • •Collaborate with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify kernel-dependent components such as CPUs and NICs for product integration.
  • •Contribute kernel features back to the mainline Linux kernel community.
  • •Investigate and fix customer network problems with Customer Support, and address issues identified by System Test Engineers, while mentoring engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 8 years experience, or MS with 6 years, or Ph.D. with 3 years, or equivalent experience.
  • •Expert programming experience in C; knowledge of C++ and Python is desirable.
  • •Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and developing Linux kernel features.
  • •Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation, including upstream kernel patching processes.
  • •Understanding of IP networking architecture, design, and principles, with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
