•Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to deliver an industry-leading search engine with speed and relevance.
•Contribute to Elasticsearch development: build new search features and fix bugs while improving code clarity.
•Work with a globally distributed team focused on Elasticsearch vector search capabilities.
•Drive improvements to search relevance by identifying opportunities based on questions and instincts.
•Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests, including triaging or handling changes directly.

•Professional experience with search or vector databases using HNSW, IVF, or similar algorithms and libraries at scale.
•Solid core Java skills, including data structures/concurrency and language features like lambdas.
•Autonomous ownership of projects from beginning to end, including technical design and partnering with other engineers.
•Comfort collaborating by giving and receiving feedback on code, approaches, and APIs, including asynchronous internet collaboration.
•Experience with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
