Key Responsibilities

  • •Inspect, test, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair process instrumentation and controls when equipment is in or out of service, working closely with station operators.
  • •Troubleshoot, test, calibrate, and repair electrical control circuits and protective trip/interlock circuits, including running conduit and making wiring connections.
  • •Install new control equipment and maintain meters, relays, recorders, switches, and similar equipment on switchboards; tape high-voltage connections above 6900v.
  • •Maintain equipment associated with nuclear radioactive sources and perform required tests and calibrations.
  • •Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate stack gas emission monitoring equipment (opacity monitors and continuous emission monitors) and maintain safe work practices while instructing and training employees.

Key Requirements

  • •High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • •Thorough knowledge of meters, gauges, instruments, and pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical connections used in maintenance, adjustment, and repair.
  • •Ability to climb ladders and work at higher elevations on platforms, scaffolds, and grating.
  • •Good knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic circuits and circuit components, including methods for testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing instruments and controls.
  • •Must be capable of directing the work of several employees in an assignment and be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program.
