Job Summary

Lead a team of software engineers building and evolving Adyen’s Global Cards platform for APAC. Partner with Product Managers and Architects to deliver Cards-domain functionality while improving performance, scalability, reliability, and engineering quality. Drive the technical direction, guide architectural decisions, coach engineers, and act as an escalation point for complex challenges across a globally distributed engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, supporting both technical and professional growth.
•Foster a high-performing engineering culture centered on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
•Translate product priorities with Product Managers into scalable technical solutions.
•Drive the team’s technical direction across the Cards domain, balancing delivery with scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
•Deliver and improve highly reliable, scalable payment software, including authorisation, routing, settlement, and scheme integrations.

Key Requirements

•Experience leading and developing high-performing software engineering teams.
•Strong software engineering background building large-scale, distributed systems using Java or similar backend technologies.
•Ability to coach engineers through technical mentorship, feedback, and career development.
•Comfort facilitating architectural decisions and balancing engineering quality with business priorities.
•Desirable: experience building payment systems or working in the cards payments ecosystem (e.g., authorisation, routing, card schemes, issuer/acquirer integrations).
