Key Responsibilities

  • •Deliver and take technical lead roles on flood risk management projects for local authorities, including flood investigations, flood strategies, and sustainable drainage master-planning.
  • •Significantly contribute to high-quality technical deliverables, often as a technical reviewer.
  • •Support and mentor junior colleagues and oversee small project teams.
  • •Manage workload and project delivery with minimal supervision, including H&S behaviours.
  • •Contribute to task/project planning for programme, budget, and quality requirements; engage with clients and develop trusted-advisor relationships; support securing small projects/extensions.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience working in flood risk management with local authorities or in public/private flood risk management work.
  • •Demonstrable experience leading delivery of projects or technical outputs and understanding budgets for flood risk management/sustainable drainage.
  • •Understanding of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, Land Drainage Act, and the Planning Practice Guidance: Flood Risk and Coastal Change for UK local authorities.
  • •Knowledge and understanding of surface water drainage modelling and Sustainable Drainage Systems, including experience preparing Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and Strategic Flood Risk Assessments.
  • •Degree in a relevant environmental, geographical, science or engineering discipline essential; chartered status (C.WEM, CEnv, CSci, or CEng) desired or evidence of working towards chartership.
