Job Summary

Lead day-to-day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy for development projects across feasibility, concept, planning, detailed design, and construction. Provide expertise in drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, streetscape, earthworks, and utilities, and support multidisciplinary teams. Serve as project leader (as Project Manager when required), manage client and stakeholder engagement, ensure delivery within budget, schedule, and quality, and prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and contract documentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead day-to-day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy services through the project life cycle.
•Provide technical expertise across drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, streetscape, earthworks, and utilities for land, property, and infrastructure development projects.
•Provide project leadership on multiple varied multidisciplinary projects, acting as Project Manager where required.
•Engage with clients and stakeholders, collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary professionals, and coordinate design team efforts.
•Ensure projects are delivered within budget, on programme, and to required quality/technical and legal compliance, including producing and checking technical outputs and contract documentation.

Key Requirements

•Knowledge and experience in highway design, drainage strategies, and technical design, including flood risk assessment and management and utility design for the development sector.
•Strong design experience in development projects (drainage, flood risk, highways, earthworks, and utilities), including awareness of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and construction design stages (desirable).
•Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings.
•Working knowledge of relevant design codes and guidance (e.g., Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, DMRB, Manual for Streets, SuDS Manual, and local authority design guidance) and preparation of drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals.
•Experience liaising with clients, co-professionals, and design teams, including negotiating outline/detailed approvals and statutory agreements; postgraduate (or equivalent) and nearing Chartership (or equivalent commercial responsibility) is expected.
