Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
  • •Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
  • •Make high-judgment build-vs-buy decisions across a broad stack of open-source and SaaS AI technologies (e.g., AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch).
  • •Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput for production AI systems.
  • •Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems and attract/retain top AI talent while nurturing team growth.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 269,100 - 307,200 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 8 years of experience developing or leading AI/ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master’s degree plus at least 6 years.
  • •At least 3 years of people leadership experience.
  • •5 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team.
  • •7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
  • •Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field (preferred).
