Job Summary

Provide legal advice and strategic support for Centene’s commercial health plan business. Serve as a lead resource for commercial health plan regulatory matters and advise internal compliance and business partners on federal and state healthcare laws affecting product lines and programs. Research and interpret complex regulatory requirements (e.g., ACA/Exchange, mental health parity, No Surprises Act), review and negotiate contracts, and support subpoenas, disputes, and outside counsel engagement.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as a lead resource for commercial health plan regulatory matters, including Ambetter Health and Solutions.
•Advise business and compliance partners on federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, guidance, and market requirements impacting commercial product lines and programs.
•Research, analyze, and interpret complex healthcare regulatory requirements, including ACA/Exchange operations, mental health parity, No Surprises Act, essential health benefits, and broker matters.
•Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, policies, procedures, and related documents.
•Partner with Compliance, Regulatory Operations, Product, Clinical, Network, Finance, and other leadership to identify legal risks, develop practical solutions, and support timely decision-making; manage subpoenas, disputes, and outside counsel as needed.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 185,700 - 352,500 annually

Key Requirements

•Juris Doctor (JD) required with 5+ years of experience in corporate or health law.
•1+ years of experience with government contract law, health law, and managed care (preferred).
•Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance and state insurance/HMO regulations (preferred).
•Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
•Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a complex regulatory environment; bar admission in good standing preferred.
