Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead rock mechanics and geotechnical studies to improve safety, stability, and operational performance across underground and open pit mining projects.
  • •Deliver rock mass characterization, design criteria, ground support recommendations, and stability assessments for excavations, headings, raises, shafts, crown pillars, mass excavations, and open pit slopes.
  • •Guide kinematic, empirical, and numerical analyses to convert geological and geotechnical data into practical client decisions.
  • •Advance high-quality field programs including core logging, televiewer surveys, packer testing, instrumentation, monitoring, and lab data interpretation.
  • •Drive project success by managing scope, budgets, schedules, deliverables, technical quality, and multidisciplinary collaboration across mining, geology, hydrogeology, and engineering teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in mining, geological, geotechnical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • •Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Canada.
  • •8+ years of relevant rock mechanics or mining geotechnical experience, with strong involvement in underground mining projects.
  • •Experience with rock mass characterization, geotechnical investigations, excavation stability, ground support design, and geotechnical risk management.
  • •Experience applying numerical modelling and stability analysis tools such as RS2, RS3, FLAC3D, EX3, or other Rocscience software.
