Job Summary

Lead complex mechanical development and qualification efforts for tactical cryocooler and opto-mechanical systems. Conduct cryocooler trade studies and thermal/reliability analyses using SWaP-C decision matrices and thermal capacity curves. Develop 3D solid models, perform design-for-manufacturability and TDP documentation in a PDM system, and collaborate with analysts, Integrated Product Teams, and leadership to deliver cost/schedule-compliant program outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

•Guide complex tactical systems through the development and qualification lifecycle with a focus on continuous improvement.
•Conduct cryocooler trade studies and market down-selections using SWaP-C characteristics, thermal capacity curves, and reliability predictions.
•Develop opto-mechanical assembly concepts through final part design using 3D solid modeling and perform design-for-manufacturability trade studies.
•Create and revise Technical Data Package (TDP) 2D documentation from solid models in a PDM system.
•Serve as an advisor and spokesperson to management and customers on critical design decisions, presenting work in program and department reviews and mentoring other team members.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a degree in STEM and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
•Experience in mechanical design in the aerospace or commercial industry.
•Experience developing and implementing new products, processes, standards, or operational plans.
•Experience with low-temperature materials in cryogenic applications and performing hand calculations using fundamental equations.
•Experience with thermal testing (planning, organization, execution, data reduction, and correlation).
