Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the design and implementation of semantic search capabilities using OpenSearch to build hybrid search (BM25 + vector) from the ground up.
  • •Continuously evaluate, benchmark, and fine-tune search relevance, ranking models, and k-NN/neural search configurations within OpenSearch.
  • •Maintain, scale, and evolve core data ingestion and indexing pipelines built on MySQL, Kafka/RabbitMQ, and backend microservices to support dense vector ingestion.
  • •Guide the Search team’s technical roadmap, establish engineering best practices, and mentor senior and mid-level engineers through complex architectural decisions.
  • •Ensure the search platform meets ultra-low latency and high-availability SLA requirements under massive concurrent traffic, including participating in the on-call rotation.

Salary: USD 163,000 - 244,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years of professional software development experience with a proven record in technical leadership or staff-level capacity.
  • •Deep hands-on experience building, scaling, and fine-tuning OpenSearch (or Elasticsearch) clusters at scale.
  • •Proven experience implementing semantic and hybrid search using text embeddings, vector databases, and hybrid scoring models.
  • •Strong backend fundamentals in a strongly typed language such as GoLang, Scala, or Java, plus experience with PHP.
  • •Strong experience with relational databases (MySQL), schema design, and distributed messaging (Kafka or RabbitMQ) for indexing pipelines.
