Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead end-to-end semi-monthly/bi-weekly payroll processing for US and Canada employees across exempt, non-exempt, hourly, and salary groups.
  • •Process complex payments including equity (NSO/ISO/RSU tax withholding), bonuses, commissions, retro pay, terminations, severance, and off-cycle runs.
  • •Ensure compliance with US federal/state/local payroll taxes and labor standards, and manage Canadian payroll compliance across Ontario and British Columbia.
  • •Collaborate with HR and external partners to manage hires, transfers, compensation changes, leaves (FMLA, STD, LTD, Canadian EI/MAT), terminations, and statutory deductions/garnishments.
  • •Identify opportunities to automate and streamline payroll operations across HRIS, time tracking, and accounting systems while maintaining high accuracy and documentation (SOPs/compliance controls).

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years independently running both US and Canadian payrolls in high-growth multi-state/multi-province environments.
  • •Deep expertise in US payroll tax mechanics, including multi-state withholding and FLSA overtime rules.
  • •Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll mechanics, including provincial employment standards and ROE processing.
  • •Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, UKG Payroll, and Workday for employee lifecycle and payroll processing.
  • •Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analyzing, reconciling, auditing, and validating large payroll datasets.
