Job Summary

Build and scale AirGarage’s legal function as the company’s first in-house Senior Legal Counsel. Own commercial contracting, multi-state regulatory and permitting compliance, data privacy (including ALPR), and IP protection. Lead M&A and direct real estate acquisition support across the deal lifecycle, advise on employment matters, coordinate outside counsel, and help create legal operating systems that enable fast, safe growth.

Key Responsibilities

•Draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements; build and maintain reusable contract templates, playbooks, and guardrails.
•Support acquisitions end-to-end (diligence, LOIs, purchase agreements, closings, and post-close integration) and develop repeatable processes.
•Partner on direct real estate acquisitions including entity structuring, title/diligence review, zoning and land-use analysis, and financing documentation.
•Maintain and extend regulatory and permitting compliance infrastructure across 40+ states, proactively surfacing risks as regulations evolve.
•Own data privacy, IP protection, and employment matters; coordinate outside counsel for complex transactions, litigation, antitrust review, and specialized regulatory work.

Travel: Medium travel

Salary: USD 175,000 - 230,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Have hands-on experience as the sole or primary in-house legal person at a high-growth company, personally drafting contracts, managing compliance, and running diligence.
•Experience executing M&A deals, including multiple acquisitions, with knowledge of purchase agreements and diligence processes through post-close operationalization.
•Demonstrate multi-state operational fluency, advising businesses operating across many states and building scalable compliance systems.
•Have deep commercial contracts experience (e.g., MSAs, SOWs, licensing, revenue-share, partnerships, vendor contracts), including drafting from scratch and negotiating with sophistication.
•Strong data privacy knowledge, including building/maintaining privacy policies and experience related to cameras, LPR/ALPR, and location data (preferred: California bar admission).
