Job Summary

Arborist role in WSP’s Landscape Architecture, Arboriculture, and Urban Forestry practice focused on field and office work across Eastern Ontario. You’ll conduct tree inventories and arboriculture field investigations, support tree protection by-law compliance, develop large-scale arboriculture studies, assess impacts of developments on trees, and prepare clear arborist reports and tree preservation plans using CAD/GIS tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct detailed tree inventories, assessments, and arboriculture field investigations.
•Lead and support tree protection by-law compliance, including defining study scopes and preparing tree removal permit applications.
•Develop and contribute to large-scale arboriculture studies and tree compensation programs.
•Assess impacts to trees from proposed developments and infrastructure projects.
•Prepare clear, well-structured arborist reports, proposals, and technical documentation.

Key Requirements

•Degree or diploma in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Technology, or a related field.
•Approximately 6+ years of professional experience in consulting arboriculture or urban forestry.
•ISA Certified Arborist designation (completed or actively in progress).
•Strong tree identification, health assessment, and impact evaluation skills.
•Experience with municipal tree by-laws and Conservation Authority regulations in Ontario; Proficiency with CAD for Tree Preservation and Restoration Plans; GIS experience is an asset.
