Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform radiation shielding design and analysis for reactor, fuel handling, and site systems.
  • •Develop and execute trade studies evaluating shielding materials, geometries, and deployment strategies.
  • •Develop neutronics simulations to characterize neutron and photon source terms during operation, maintenance, and accident conditions.
  • •Optimize shielding designs to balance radiation protection, manufacturability, cost, and deployment requirements.
  • •Develop technical reports and safety basis documentation supporting design, licensing, and operational activities while ensuring compliance with the Aalo quality assurance program.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • •2+ years of experience in radiation shielding analysis, radiation transport, or related nuclear engineering.
  • •Proficiency with radiation transport tools such as MCNP, ADVANTG, SCALE/KENO, OpenMC, or similar methods.
  • •Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements, shielding design principles, and radiation transport methods.
  • •Strong understanding of radiation shielding and radiation protection principles, including dose assessment methodologies and ALARA practices.
