Job Summary

Lead tax support for complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional transactions, restructures, and strategic projects (including M&A) across a global portfolio. Partner with senior stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Legal, Business Development, and the business to deliver commercially grounded, decision-useful advice across the full project lifecycle. Mobilize and coordinate project teams, manage external advisers, and proactively identify and communicate key tax risks.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the tax workstream for complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions, restructures, and strategic projects, including M&A.
•Provide commercially grounded tax advice across the full project lifecycle and support timely decision-making by senior stakeholders.
•Assess and articulate tax implications of transaction structures, financing arrangements, post-deal integration steps, and cross-border operating models.
•Mobilise and lead project teams drawn from local tax teams, Group Tax specialists, and external advisers to bring the right expertise at the right time.
•Identify, assess, and communicate key tax risks and ensure alignment with Rio Tinto tax principles, governance requirements, and broader policy framework.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience in a professional services firm and/or multinational in-house tax environment, including substantial exposure to complex transactions, strategic projects, and M&A.
•Demonstrated experience leading tax support for multi-jurisdictional projects and transactions, including shaping options and prioritising material tax considerations.
•Deep technical tax expertise with strong commercial acumen, able to translate complex cross-border issues into clear, practical advice.
•Strong business partnering and stakeholder leadership skills, building trusted relationships and coordinating internal specialists, regional teams, and external advisers.
•Pragmatic, delivery-focused, risk-based approach with sound judgement to work at pace and manage competing priorities.
