Job Summary

Build and optimize end-to-end data pipelines for the Finance squad, powering reporting and assurance on top of a Trino + Iceberg lakehouse using Medallion Architecture. Own extraction, cleaning, and modeling from raw event logs to verified subledgers and Gold metrics. Collaborate with finance and engineering to turn finance needs into production-ready schemas, embed reconciliation checks, process high-throughput Kafka-driven events, and coach mid-level/junior engineers through reviews.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, build, and optimize robust end-to-end data pipelines on the Trino + Iceberg lakehouse stack.
•Own extraction, cleaning, and modeling layers to refine raw event logs into verified subledgers and structured Gold metrics.
•Work with high-throughput messaging queues (Kafka) and real-time computation to meet data freshness SLAs.
•Embed automated reconciliation checks (e.g., balance and double-entry validations) to detect discrepancies before reporting.
•Partner with finance controllers, analysts, product, and engineering to translate finance requirements into production-ready data schemas and coach team engineers through reviews.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 111,000 - 145,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Proven experience building data infrastructure using Trino/Presto and open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
•Deep expertise in Medallion Architecture patterns, star schemas, and modeling semi-structured financial data logs (JSON/Avro).
•Expertise with ETL/ELT orchestration using tools such as dbt and scheduling tools such as Airflow.
•Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and streaming processing using Apache Kafka.
•Strong programming foundations in Python, SQL, or an object-oriented language such as Java or Scala.
