Job Summary

Operate an asphalt roller machine safely and efficiently, smoothing material to proper depths while following paving patterns and job specifications. Ensure preparatory work is understood (grades, drainage, aggregate size, oil consistency, compaction) and keep equipment in working condition with minor maintenance or escalation as needed. Prioritize crew/public safety, participate in daily toolbox meetings, review safety plans and production goals, identify hazards, and conduct documented task training before use.

Key Responsibilities

•Safely and efficiently operate an asphalt roller to smooth material from paver to proper depths.
•Understand preparatory asphalt paving details including grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistency, and compaction.
•Maintain efficient equipment working condition by performing minor servicing/maintenance or referring major problems to the supervisor.
•Ensure safety of crew members and the public; review safety and risk assessments and daily production goals.
•Participate in daily toolbox meetings, identify/mark/communicate overhead and project hazards, follow incident procedures, and conduct documented task training prior to equipment use.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED is preferred.
•Previous heavy equipment operation experience or training is highly preferred.
•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos; able to write simple correspondence.
•Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
•Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
