Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead and oversee day-to-day underwriting for Producer Group business, balancing risk selection with competitive service.
  • •Escalate and resolve complex underwriting matters using advanced underwriting judgment, including medical, financial, occupational, avocational, and high-face-amount cases.
  • •Partner directly with reinsurers on complex case consultations, risk selection, capacity, and placement strategy aligned to underwriting philosophy and mortality objectives.
  • •Coach, mentor, and develop underwriters and underwriting talent; drive performance management, succession planning, and team capability.
  • •Promote underwriting quality, consistency, audit readiness, and continuous improvements; lead implementation of state and federal regulations for products and procedures.

Key Requirements

  • •More than 10 years of life underwriting experience, including complex medical and financial cases and sophisticated/large-face-amount underwriting.
  • •More than five years of formal leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, or influencing underwriting professionals and cross-functional partners.
  • •Demonstrated credibility with producers, brokers, brokerage general agencies, broker-dealers, reinsurers, and distribution partners to navigate complex case discussions and placement strategy.
  • •Strong understanding of underwriting philosophy, mortality and risk management, reinsurance considerations, audit expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • •Professional development or industry designations such as FALU, FLMI, CLU, ACS, or comparable experience; EKG Certified preferred.
