Job Summary

Lead high-quality water Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) delivery and provide senior technical and advisory support for Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessment work. You will apply and technically review the Watercourse BNG Metric (including River Condition Assessments) and lead WFD compliance assessments, while overseeing Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs) to secure BNG for 30 years. Partner with internal teams and support bids, business planning, and landowner engagement strategies for off-site BNG delivery.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and technically review application of the Watercourse BNG Metric, including reviews of River Condition Assessments.
•Lead and review Water Framework Directive (WFD) compliance assessments.
•Provide senior technical support to the watercourse BNG team.
•Support business planning, sales, and bid development for watercourse BNG, WFD, and hydromorphology.
•Oversee and advise on Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs) to secure BNG for 30 years, including high-level technical direction on multidisciplinary projects.

Key Requirements

•A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Geography, Environmental Science, Ecology, or similar).
•Professional membership (e.g. CIWEM, CIEEM, RGS), ideally Chartered.
•River Condition Assessment accreditation.
•Strong track record in watercourse BNG, including application of the metric and delivery of net gain strategies.
•Experience managing projects, programmes, and multidisciplinary teams.
