Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and continuously improve observability platforms, pipelines, and tooling used by Canva engineers.
  • •Provide technical leadership to drive pragmatic solutions and make impactful design decisions for observability capabilities.
  • •Brainstorm, research, prototype, and refine metrics and continuous profiling platforms to improve operational effectiveness and reliability.
  • •Improve metrics and continuous profiling querying, visualization, and monitoring user experience while advocating best practices.
  • •Partner cross-functionally to ensure engineers can effectively use metrics, continuous profiling, and insights platforms; share knowledge in team ceremonies.

Key Requirements

  • •Proficient coding in Python, Golang, and/or Java.
  • •Deep knowledge of computer engineering fundamentals and first principles.
  • •Experience with infrastructure-as-code, particularly Terraform and Jsonnet, or comparable tools.
  • •Practical AWS experience across services such as EC2, EKS, Lambda, SQS, Kinesis, S3, and MSK.
  • •Competency with observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (or equivalents).
