Job Summary

Design and review mechanical elements for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, covering pumping stations, headloss calculations, pump selection, treatment plant components, odour control, and plant/pipework layouts. Lead work across all design stages from feasibility through construction design while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. Support bid preparation, deliver accurate calculations, drawings, and technical reports, and help shape digital tools and BIM-enabled processes.

Key Responsibilities

•Undertake and review mechanical design for wastewater and water infrastructure, including pumping stations, calculations, pump selection, and plant/pipework layouts.
•Develop designs across feasibility, outline, detail, and construction design stages while meeting national and international design standards.
•Collaborate with local and nationwide discipline teams to deliver technical solutions and communicate with clients throughout design phases.
•Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others, and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.
•Support bid and proposal preparation and produce/review client deliverables such as calculations, drawings, and technical reports.

Key Requirements

•Proven experience designing water and wastewater engineering deliverables, ideally including treatment schemes.
•BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with experience in water and wastewater treatment.
•Chartered (or near Chartered) Member of a relevant Professional Institution.
•Proven senior engineer experience working at a consultancy within the water sector.
•Experience managing projects, delegating tasks, and providing technical mentoring.
