Key Responsibilities

  • •Own AutoOpenRaman as a shippable product, including system architecture, performance requirements, and definition of done.
  • •Set project directions for engineering work and evaluate trade-offs to align current performance with product requirements.
  • •Close gaps in performance and usability, including signal-to-noise, acquisition time, footprint, and measurement reproducibility.
  • •Partner with a software engineer to define the hardware–software interface so the instrument behaves predictably under automated control.
  • •Own the bill of materials and assembly protocol for 10–50 unit production runs; drive vendor relationships, laser safety certification, and external deployment planning (installation, training, service, and failure modes).

Salary: USD 185,000 - 225,000

Key Requirements

  • •Track record taking an instrument from working prototype to units used by others in their hands.
  • •Basic working fluency with optical instrumentation to discuss performance with optical scientists and translate issues into design decisions.
  • •Experience owning bill of materials, assembly documentation, and design-for-manufacturability through real fabrication cycles.
  • •Experience partnering with software engineers to co-develop instrument control GUIs and scientific user workflows.
  • •CAD proficiency to review and direct a mechanical engineer’s work.
