Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead design and specification development of the following specialties: Systems Integration, SCADA, Communications, Trackwork, Signaling, Train Control, Systems Assurance (RAM), Safety Assurance, Vehicle and Wayside Interfaces, Traction Power Design, Power Supply and Distribution, System and Train Simulation, Tunnel Constructability, and Fire Ventilation
  • •Oversee the preparation of detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses, design justifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes for transit/rail projects
  • •Ensure all design elements are compliant with the relevant Rail Operation Rules, industry codes and standards, and client expectations
  • •Provide leadership to mid-career staff and mentoring to develop their technical skills
  • •Interact with clients to discuss technical topics clearly and professionally; facilitate resolution of customer expectations vs. technical issues
  • •Work with tight schedules and motivate project teams
  • •Plan and execute project work based on project scope, schedule, and budget

Key Requirements

  • •BA/BS + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
  • •Licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts or ability to obtain reciprocity
  • •Preferred: 15 years of experience in the design and management of complex multidisciplinary rail system projects
  • •Experience in design management responsibility, including management of design services during design and construction
  • •Strong knowledge of signaling principles, train control solutions including CBTC and PTC, and applicable railway standards
