Job Summary

Monitor and operate Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and other traffic control devices, taking action based on SOPs. Manage traffic incident response by coordinating roadway-concern actions, dispatching maintenance crews for snow/ice events, and maintaining detailed incident and call-log records. Assist with traffic data collection and troubleshooting for ATMS/ITS and TMC systems, and support NYSDOT with device failure documentation, repair priorities, and work orders.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide human monitoring and operation of ITS and other traffic control devices, taking actions based on SOP guidance.
•Coordinate traffic incident management and responses for roadway concerns, including dispatching maintenance crews for snow/ice events.
•Maintain database entry records for incidents, special events, roadway concerns, and call logs.
•Assist with traffic data collection and troubleshooting using manual and automated data collection and surveillance features of ATMS/ITS and TMC systems.
•Support NYSDOT with identifying, troubleshooting, and documenting device failures, establishing repair priorities, and issuing work orders.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma.
•0-2 years of experience with a TMC type facility and/or traffic management.
•Oral and written communication skills.
•Computer/software skills including MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and databases.
•Ability to use digital roadway maps and work with roadway elements, with schedule flexibility for consistent operations.
