Job Summary

Experienced consultant ecologist stepping into an Associate role to lead projects, mentor colleagues, and influence delivery across UK habitats and protected species. You’ll manage workload with senior leaders, prepare tenders, oversee ecological workstreams (technical, commercial, financial), and help shape best practice within a collaborative Ecology team at WSP.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead project delivery and provide team leadership across ecological workstreams.
•Champion Health, Safety & Wellbeing culture and maintain high technical standards.
•Generate new opportunities and prepare tenders, while overseeing technical, commercial, and financial aspects.
•Provide site and office support, mentoring junior colleagues to develop their skills.
•Contribute to a supportive, high-performing team environment and help shape best practice in UK ecology.

Key Requirements

•Experience working across a range of UK habitats and protected species, with survey and/or mitigation licences (current or held previously).
•Proven track record of supporting clients from devising survey programmes and designing pragmatic, cost-effective mitigation, to gaining regulatory support and supervising implementation on-site.
•Experience delivering Ecological Impact Assessments and writing robust ES chapters.
•Knowledge and experience of Habitats Regulations Assessment.
•Demonstrable success in winning work, particularly with commercial clients in residential, mixed-use, and industrial sectors.
