Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that improve how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
  • •Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents/workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
  • •Develop state-of-the-art foundation model optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput for production AI systems.
  • •Own end-to-end architecture for complex AI systems, ensuring maintainability, observability, and ethical alignment, and define SLOs for AI reliability.
  • •Collaborate with infrastructure engineering to optimize GPU/TPU utilization and lead technical reviews for new deployments while meeting security, data governance, and compliance standards.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 215,200 - 245,600 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/AI/Electrical/Computer Engineering (or related) plus 4+ years developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master’s degree plus 2+ years.
  • •At least 4 years programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
  • •Experience leading development of AI systems with tradeoffs across cost, latency, throughput, and accuracy.
  • •Experience deploying scalable, responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and/or designing and supporting AI services.
  • •Experience building or optimizing training/inference software for better hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
