Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform highly skilled electric arc, gas welding and cutting, brazing, pipefitting, and insulation installation/removal on power plant equipment.
  • •Repair and maintain boiler pressure parts, pressure vessels, piping, boiler tube leaks, and related mechanical equipment.
  • •Carry out welding and fitting tasks including measuring, laying out, cutting, threading, bending, fitting, valve/gasket replacement, and valve repacking/overhaul.
  • •Conduct safety checks (including checking for explosive gases where necessary), ensure isolation/protection of equipment, and follow safety precautions for self and others.
  • •Prepare reports/forms as required and maintain clean, orderly work areas while disposing of surplus and scrap materials after each job.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 54.56 hourly

Key Requirements

  • •Must meet qualifications established in the Apprenticeship Program, or (if no graduating apprentice is available) meet requirements in the Supplementary Agreement on Uniform Practices Regarding Promotion to Repairman (Certified) Jobs.
  • •Pass prescribed welder qualification tests per Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
  • •Be accurate, steady, and calm in emergencies with normal physical strength/endurance and no color deficiency in vision.
  • •Must qualify welding procedures as required.
  • •Work from drawings and sketches and safely isolate/protect equipment before work begins.
