Job Summary

Build and deploy lab automation platforms that turn wet-lab assays into robust, high-throughput workflows. Partner with scientific teams to translate assays for robotic workcells, write and maintain instrument control and data/metadata handoffs, and configure tip-based liquid handlers. Collaborate with software and discovery teams on orchestration/scheduling layers, automated QC and error handling, and troubleshoot automation hardware/software to protect assay reproducibility.

Key Responsibilities

•Partner with scientific teams to translate assays into robust, high-throughput automated workflows.
•Generate and maintain code for instrument control, workflow parameterisation, and data/metadata handoffs.
•Define, configure, and test end-to-end automated workflows using orchestration and scheduling software, including device integrations.
•Generate multi-device automation protocols and configure tip-based liquid handlers.
•Support automated QC and error-handling development, and troubleshoot automation hardware/software issues.

Key Requirements

•Degree in engineering, automation, life sciences, computer science or related field (or equivalent practical experience) with a strong track record in hands-on laboratory automation in biotech, pharma, or CRO settings.
•Substantial experience integrating robotically automated systems, including building workflows across multiple instruments, with experience using tip-based liquid handlers.
•Comfortable generating and maintaining code for instrument control and data capture.
•Experience collaborating with scientific teams to translate assays onto automation platforms.
•Experience with scheduling and orchestration software for automated workflows, including integration with broader informatics systems.
