Key Responsibilities

  • •Set technical direction for speech-model and decoder strategy, guiding evaluations and translating strong ideas into improvements for voice agents.
  • •Lead research, adaptation, and implementation of ASR/STT and speech-enhancement models to improve recognition robustness, clarity, and performance.
  • •Improve the end-to-end speech pipeline (decoding, endpointing, turn detection, streaming behavior, and handoffs between ASR, LLM, and TTS) for natural interactions and low latency.
  • •Benchmark, prototype, fine-tune, distill, and adapt models/algorithms to create advantages in voice-agent quality, latency, cost, or reliability.
  • •Design and ship production-grade services and inference components for real-time speech, partnering with platform and backend engineers and mentoring teammates.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 224,500 - 256,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of experience in speech ML, speech recognition, speech enhancement, audio AI, or a closely related field with hands-on real-world improvements.
  • •Strong Python skills and experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, with the ability to work in production codebases.
  • •Deep understanding of modern ASR/STT architectures and decoding techniques, with the ability to evaluate and explain trade-offs across accuracy, robustness, streaming behavior, latency, and compute cost.
  • •Experience benchmarking, prototyping, fine-tuning, distilling, or adapting models/algorithms to deliver measurable product improvements.
  • •Experience building and operating low-latency, production-grade ML or backend services in a cloud environment; streaming inference and observability in GCP are a plus.
