Job Summary

Design, provision, and automate cloud-based data workspaces for the Department of Veterans Affairs as part of a data modernization initiative. Create and configure Databricks workspaces, linked services, mount points, and catalogs, while integrating with the VHA Data Lake. Lead workspace migrations from on-prem to cloud, troubleshoot provisioning and access issues, and automate user intake workflows. Maintain documentation, SOPs, and governed access, and provide white-glove support to users across PreProd and Prod environments.

Key Responsibilities

•Create and provision cloud workspaces equipped with commonly used tools to reduce onboarding friction.
•Lead migration efforts from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-based solutions.
•Automate user intake, workspace creation, and core data access, including troubleshooting provisioning, access, and workspace functionality.
•Build and configure Databricks workspaces (PreProd and Prod), including service principals, workgroup personas, access controls, and security configurations.
•Create and manage linked services, mount points, and integrations between Databricks and the VHA Data Lake; maintain Databricks catalogs, documentation, and SOPs.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 195,000 - 225,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of IT/engineering experience (or commensurate experience).
•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
•Expertise with Azure or other major cloud platforms.
•Experience with SQL Server/SQL Server Admin, Azure, ETL, relational databases, AWS, ADF, Python, Spark SQL, Synapse, Azure Storage, Azure Eventhub, and Azure Logic Apps.
•Experience automating cloud provisioning workflows (e.g., Terraform, ARM, Bicep, PowerShell, Python).
