Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and own the core AI platform powering AI at Duffel, including the orchestration engine, runtime, and reusable primitives.
  • •Shape technical direction for AI across the company by establishing engineering patterns, workflows, and best practices.
  • •Design trustworthy retrieval, grounding, and evaluation systems, including robust evaluation frameworks for AI quality.
  • •Create long-term AI capabilities with memory and personalization, including reusable customer context and optimization loops.
  • •Design and build production AI agents that solve customer problems by reasoning over complex travel workflows and interacting safely with Duffel APIs.

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience designing and shipping production AI systems, agentic workflows, or LLM-powered products.
  • •Experience building AI infrastructure such as orchestration frameworks, retrieval systems, evaluation pipelines, or memory architectures.
  • •Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to design scalable, reliable systems across languages/frameworks (Elixir backend, TypeScript frontend).
  • •Experience taking ambiguous technical problems from zero to one and influencing technical direction across teams.
