Key Responsibilities

  • •Set technical direction for App Platform and Functions control planes and runtimes, defining multi-year architectures and standards.
  • •Architect managed Kubernetes-backed infrastructure capabilities across cluster lifecycle, reconciliation, networking, isolation, autoscaling, and operational safety.
  • •Drive solutions for platform runtime challenges including deployment correctness, cold-start/warm-path performance, secure isolation, scale-to-zero/from-zero, and failure recovery.
  • •Serve as a primary technical voice in design reviews across App Platform, Functions, Edge, Networking, DOKS, and adjacent product teams to resolve architectural conflicts.
  • •Mentor IC2–IC4 engineers in system design for distributed systems and Kubernetes platform engineering; lead large cross-functional programs end-to-end.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record at Staff/Principal (or equivalent) senior IC level designing and shipping mission-critical distributed systems.
  • •Expert-level proficiency in Go and deep experience building/operating gRPC/HTTP microservices at scale.
  • •Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals and platform patterns (controllers/operators, CRDs, scheduling, networking, multi-tenancy, cluster operations).
  • •Experience building or operating PaaS/serverless/multi-tenant control-plane or runtime systems, including deployment pipelines, lifecycle reconciliation, and production isolation models.
  • •Ability to design and operate cloud-scale distributed systems (consistency trade-offs, failure recovery, backpressure, multi-region concerns, and long-running reconciliation).
