Job Summary

Partner with the Total Rewards and HR benefits teams to design, implement, and interpret employee benefit plans and ensure compliance with ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, the Internal Revenue Code, COBRA, and related state laws. Advise on health and welfare, wellness, disability and leave, defined contribution retirement, tuition assistance, and other programs, while supporting nonqualified plans and executive compensation as needed. Work in a hybrid model from the Plano office three days weekly.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide day-to-day employee benefits legal advice to HR benefits teams, plan fiduciaries, and internal colleagues.
•Support benefit plan design, implementation, interpretation, and compliance for health and welfare plans, wellness initiatives, disability and leave programs, defined contribution retirement plans, and other benefit programs.
•Monitor employee benefits law and policy developments and coordinate with HR teams to ensure ongoing compliance.
•Review and draft/review benefit plan documents and amendments, summary plan descriptions, participant communications, open enrollment materials, legal notices, and other related documents.
•Provide compliance support for annual governmental filings, plan testing and operational reviews, and defend the company in investigations and benefits litigation as applicable.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 125,200 - 147,200 annually

Key Requirements

•Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.
•Active license to practice law in Texas (or ability to obtain in-house counsel registration where required).
•4–8 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, with a primary focus on Employment Benefits law.
•Ability to assess and weigh risks against operational needs and develop reasoned recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
•Ability to deliver sound, clear, and practical legal advice verbally and in writing, and communicate complex legal issues to non-lawyers.
