Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the legal team in Guinea, providing direction, coaching, and development to build a high-performing function.
  • •Act as principal legal adviser to the in-country Managing Director and senior leadership, working closely with the Chief Counsel Simandou.
  • •Oversee external counsel engagement and performance to ensure high-quality, responsive, and cost-effective legal support.
  • •Provide strategic legal advice across matters including health and safety, compliance, land access, community, procurement, and infrastructure.
  • •Lead negotiations and legal support for government and public stakeholder engagements, and manage disputes and investigations.

Key Requirements

  • •Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
  • •Minimum 10 years’ post-qualification experience in a leading law firm, multinational organization, or a combination.
  • •Experience working in Africa or other emerging market conditions.
  • •Strong corporate and commercial legal background supporting major projects (complex commercial contracts, infrastructure, joint ventures, and regulatory frameworks).
  • •French language skills for engagement with government authorities and local stakeholders.
