Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide Gray Eagle MQ-1C UAS instruction covering takeoff, landing, and tactical employment procedures.
  • •Teach air crew coordination and Gray Eagle system/payload capabilities, emergency procedures, limitations, and logic.
  • •Conduct and instruct Gray Eagle UAS missions focused on reconnaissance, aerial surveillance, security operations, and attack mission employment.
  • •Instruct mission planning concepts including METTTC, risk assessment, and performance planning.
  • •Teach Army reporting formats and aviation topics including airspace/IFR concepts, communications/radios, laser safety, and military symbology.

Key Requirements

  • •Qualification in Gray Eagle MQ-1C UAS.
  • •At least four years of operational flying experience (post initial qualification) within the last five years.
  • •200 hours on the Gray Eagle and 20 hours as an aircraft commander (AC) (IO can substitute for AC with AC designation in records).
  • •System qualification/verification including Army qualification certificates (e.g., DD214, DA 7122) and OEM qualification (e.g., DCMA 1821/2628); AC designated/verified via DD Form 759 or DCMA/OEM.
  • •Obtain and maintain a flight physical per AR 95-20 and successfully complete evaluations per AR 95-20 (including TRADOC instructor, oral academic, no-notice, DES, PFEs, and SFE).
