Key Responsibilities

  • •Own daily banking operations and the Japan expansion plan, executing expansion efforts hands-on.
  • •Work with the product team on Japan product launches and serve as a go-to resource for regulatory and banking knowledge.
  • •Manage licensing end-to-end: prepare documents and internal policies, set up governance, and negotiate to obtain a license.
  • •Assess existing and new regulations and shape product/setup approaches to ensure compliance, viewing regulation as an opportunity.
  • •Build and maintain partnerships with financial institutions (banks, payment companies, card schemes) and lead commercial negotiations to drive down costs and monitor economics.

Key Requirements

  • •Native Japanese speaker residing in Japan with fluency in English.
  • •Extensive experience in regulation, licensing, or payments in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • •10 years of working experience and about 4 years in the payment market with deep industry knowledge.
  • •Experience building relationships with financial institutions and managing regulatory compliance.
  • •Understanding of financial, payments, and FX regulations, with interest in AML/CFT and risk controls.
