Key Responsibilities

  • •Own complex mobile features end to end, contributing to technical design, implementation, release, measurement, and ongoing production operation.
  • •Help transition mobile architecture from predominantly native iOS/Android development to a modern React Native approach, shaping boundaries and patterns between native and cross-platform development.
  • •Operate at scale by ensuring availability, performance, accuracy, security, and scalability, automating manual processes and participating in incidents and post-mortems.
  • •Partner with Product, Design, backend, and platform teams to solve challenging problems and shape APIs and data flows across the mobile/backend boundary.
  • •Raise the engineering bar through mentoring, thoughtful code reviews, and improving engineering efficiency using modern tooling and AI-assisted workflows.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong experience building and shipping production mobile applications using Swift (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android).
  • •Deep knowledge of native mobile engineering, including performance, lifecycle management, release processes, observability, reliability, and operating software in production.
  • •Ability to develop React Native capability as Xero evolves its mobile architecture, and apply native expertise to platform integration, performance, debugging, and native modules.
  • •Ownership of complex mobile features end to end, including release, measurement, and ongoing operation.
  • •Experience working across the mobile/backend boundary, including APIs or Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns.
