Key Responsibilities

  • •Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance on port cranes and associated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • •Diagnose faults and complete effective repairs to minimise crane downtime and maintain operational performance.
  • •Respond to crane breakdowns and provide timely technical support to keep operations running safely and efficiently.
  • •Inspect, test, and maintain crane equipment, recording defects, repairs, and inspection results accurately in maintenance systems.
  • •Interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering documentation; support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance crane reliability and performance.

Key Requirements

  • •Recognised apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent).
  • •Previous experience maintaining cranes, heavy plant, industrial equipment, or similar complex machinery.
  • •Strong fault-finding and problem-solving across electrical and/or mechanical systems.
  • •Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, control systems, PLCs, drives, sensors, or high/low-voltage systems (advantageous).
  • •Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and engineering documentation.
