Job Summary

Join a union asphalt paving crew supporting daily paving operations. Assist with laydown and paving tasks such as shovel/raking, safely backing and dumping trucks into the paver, equipment maintenance, and completing required paperwork. Maintain daily checks on paver components (attachments, fluid levels, leaks, tires/tracks) and help adjust tow arms, screed, and flow gates to achieve correct mix depth and angle of attack. Work flexible hours and be willing to travel and support continuous paving.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist the paving crew with shovel/raking and related laydown duties, including safely backing/dumping trucks into the paver.
•Perform daily maintenance on paving equipment by inspecting for damage, checking parts/attachments, monitoring fluids, and inspecting for leaks.
•Adjust tow arms, screed, and flow gates to maintain appropriate head of material, angle of attack, and depth of mix in augers.
•Support continuous paving by pacing the paver based on distance from plant and haul trucks, and coordinating with foreman/roller package.
•Operate and maintain control of the machine and surrounding operations, keep equipment clean, and complete required company paperwork accurately and on time.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience); 1–3 months related experience/training preferred for meeting requirements.
•Experience as an asphalt crew member, ideally with class A or B CDL and/or screed experience in the asphalt industry.
•Ability to follow directions and perform paving-crew duties (e.g., shovel/raking, luting, running wheelbarrow, safely backing/dumping trucks into the paver).
•Ability to perform daily equipment maintenance: inspect for damage, check attachments/parts, monitor fluid levels, inspect systems for leaks, and grease the machine.
•Strict adherence to safety procedures and company policies, with a professional/courteous attitude and reliable attendance.
